When my husband snores I put relaxing music on to try to drown him out!

From tracy forrest
I have to nudge him to wake him up its the only way he will stop snoring.

From Andy Green
My girlfriend snores, I have the following tip:-Make sure your partner realises how bad their snoring is. To do this record your partner snoring on your mobile phone. Then, one night when they're really, really tired, play it back down their ear hole at full volume. It won't stop them snoring but it will perhaps help them realise what you have to put up with. Once you have done this you can then work together at finding a cure, be it trialing over the counter remedies or visiting your doctor.

From Julie Clark
My lovely fella snores terribly loud - he keeps my kids awake when he stays at my place! I wear ear plugs and make sure he doesn’t eat a large meal near bed time and he smears a bit of vics under his nostrils - this does help. I would never embarrass him by going on about it, his mates do enough of that when they go on golfing trips - he doesn’t mind because he always gets the best room!

From Anon of Berkshire
My husband and myself both snore, difference is when he wakes me up I can usually get back to sleep straight away, unfortunately once he's awake that's it for him and he ends up getting up even if its silly o'clock. I have a snore prevention ring which I wear but doesn't always work. I suggested separate rooms, but he can hear me downstairs as well.

From john moore
Sleep in another room

From james picken
Having another bedroom to sleep in is a well tried solution.

From l murray
My top tip is to wave a bit of eucalyptus essential oil or olbas oil under their nose - works a treat for me. Failing that separate rooms and earplugs is the only way to save the relationship!

From Sue
I snore really loudly according to my husband and when I go to the doctor they say that nothing can be done. We sleep in separate rooms but it ruins our holidays.

Have him sleep in the garden shed would work, but personally I prefer the elbow in the kidney approach...effective and satisfying!

From Jennifer Freeman
My husband really needs this????????????

From Michelle
If you're a snorer it definately helps to sleep on your side and invest in a decent pillow to support your head and neck :)

From Joanne
Make sure the 'snorer' doesn't sleep on their back - it seems to be a sure way to increase the tendency to snore! We put a ping pong ball into a pouch on the back of his pj's. It did the trick for a while, but got fed up in the end!

From Karin Reilly
sleep in spare bedroom

From Lucy Awcock
I usually hit and kick my partner (not too hard mind you!!) until he rolls into a position and stops snoring as badly, which isn't actually ideal really but I suffer from bad sleep deprivation! I struggle to get to sleep due to his snoring, and then when I do my young son wakes me up and I have to drag my tired self out of bed to see to him. By which point this disturbs my partner again he starts snoring and I'm not able to sleep!!! It drives me insane!!! I don't like him to have alcohol before bed as this makes him worse, I feel embarrassed for him if he goes to stay away with friends!!

From Caroline
Make sure you are asleep first with earplugs

From Caroline Harris
If I had a top tip on getting to sleep I wouldn't want to win this! There is no way I can sleep - my baby wakes , I get her to sleep, my partner snores so very loud, my baby wakes, I get her to sleep, he just keeps snoring!! Tried various things but it usually ends with me shaking him really hard and he just turns the other way and carries on snoring! I am so very tired!

My tip for getting to sleep when my other half is snoring is to either give him a quick sharp poke in his side or to make him sleep downstairs.

From Anita Tovey
I shove my partner till he goes on his side if he snores. No way can I get to sleep whilst he's snoring and he only snores when he's on his back. If only he'd stay on his back......but he gets fed up with being shoved and elbowed so will usually stay unless really tired.

From Barb
The only way I can get back to sleep when my partner is snoring is to make him sleep on the sofa!! I wear earplugs in the hope that I'll get to sleep before he does and sleep through some of the minor din!

From Kay
I have tried getting my husband onto his side and lying against his back to keep him there; wearing earplugs; changing the number and type of pillows; staying downstairs watching boring TV until he has stopped and I am exhausted - ultimately none of these things worked very well but now he says that he wants to live with his mistress who is more interesting then I am, so if that comes about I'll probably end up missing the noise

My hubby has a terrible time sleeping as I have snored since I was pregnant first time round. I had a small bump wedge which has been one of our best inexpensive purchases ever. I was accused of snoring by my first, now ex-wife. Having TWO soft palet reductions the problem was found to be a floppy epiglotus. I did not snore, just made noises that sounded like it. My new lady however can snore to olympic standards, sometimes she wakes herself and is amazed to see me sleeping soundly beside her. I use self hypnosis, the sounds she emits are my trigger for going deeper and deeper. The more she snores the deeper I sleep.

From Beverley
The only way to get some sleep in this house is to use Breathe Right strips! I got a free sample from the internet some months ago, persuaded OH to try them, and they worked! Since then we've bought them regularly. He feels a little daft wearing them, but we both get a better night's sleep, he wakes up refreshed and I don't wake up annoyed at him. He then has a whole day ahead of him to annoy me for something he can help, not something he can't! ;-)
