Boost Your Brain Power
Nootropics are a group of substances that can make you smarter. Below Jeremy Wong details how they work.
In this article:
  • Nootropics: What they are and how they work.
  • Vitamin C, Ginkgo Biloba, Caffeine and more.
  • Learn how nootropics can boost your brain power.

Below are 3 easy steps, devised by Jeremy Wong, which can enhance the efficiency of your brain.

Exercise

Intensive exercises such as jogging, swimming and tennis causes older nerve cells to form dense, interconnected webs, which results in faster and more efficient thinking.

Researchers have found that every time a muscle is put in motion, it sends out a protein called IGF-1, which is the fuel to all activities in the brain that lead to higher thought.

Exercising also means you have better blood circulation and therefore, a better oxygen supply to your brain, which essentially means you become sharper and think better.

Just ten minutes today of exercise a day and boost your thinking Speed.

Drink Water Correctly

Drinking water correctly can play can important factor in boosting your brain power. It is essential for concentration and mental alertness.

When you are chronically dehydrated, you feel tired, dizzy and get headaches. To prevent this water should be drunk consistently throughout the day. Drinking large quantities of water just two times in a whole day will not help your brain efficiency. For example drinking 4 glasses of water 2 times a day or 8 glasses once in the morning is an unproductive way to consume water.

Try drinking half a glass to one glass every hour. If you start now, you will begin feeling the effects within 48 hours, if not earlier.

Be careful not to drink too much. If you do, you will get an electrolyte imbalance – which is when you need to find electrolyte-replacement drinks such as 100plus or Gatorade. A really cheap way to do it without buying specialist drinks is to add a tiny pinch of sea salt to every gallon of water you are going to drink.

Oxygen

To function at its peak, our brain needs a lot of oxygen, approximately 20% of all our body’s oxygen consumption.

Without, the brain starts to lose its effectiveness very quickly. The moment our oxygen intake goes down we start to feel sleepy, lazy and un-alert.

This is the main reason we feel sleepy after big meals, as our digestive system uses up a larger amount of oxygen to digest the food that we have eaten.

To prevent the loss of oxygen from the Brain try:

Eating 7 smaller meals a day or chew your food 30 times before you swallow.

A huge amount of the digestion is done in your mouth this way, and this will save a lot of energy when the food gets to your stomach – as it won’t have to use as much energy. You should see results within 48 hours.

Take Deep Breathes

Deep breaths can help you to relax you and increases the oxygen intake.

Vitamins

Vitamins are also another way to increase oxygen flow to your brain, as it improves the amount of oxygen that goes to your brain by reducing the obstacles which would cause otherwise. You can consume vital vitamins by eating green vegetables and fruit.

Be warned, smoking decreases the amount of oxygen that goes to your brain as it is diluted by the other gases that you inhale with the smoke. If you want that extra brain power, you should stop smoking.
